Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real

I haven't done this in a while, mostly because I still need to get another camera. Sorry! Today I only have a "pretty" and a "funny".

PRETTY

This is Arane's baby quilt! She's my niece who's going to be born in June sometime. Lizzie and Justin wanted classic Pooh fabric, but it took a long time to find. Mom got some polka-dotted cloth for the backing and some of the squares. (The big brown, yellow, green, and pink polka-dots are on the back, too.)

FUNNY

This is my friend, Anne. (Pronounced like "Annie" but she doesn't use that spelling.) She plays the saxophone, oboe, piano, trumpet, and bass guitar.


For those who are musically embarrassed, the sharp (the side-ways tic-tac-toes) are arranged in a way that makes it a B Natural.

I haven't done this in a long time...Sorry! I keep meaning to then forget.

Pretty

This is an old skirt that had a hole in the seam. The other fabric is from a skirt Mom made for me. I fixed the hole in the skirt by following the way one of the girls (I don't remember which one) fixed her skirt on Like Mother, Like Daughter. (I looked for the link, but couldn't find it.)

Happy

This set of movies is really cool. I like combat-ish movies, especially old ones.

Funny

Dad's shoes were sitting next to the front door in the dark, I walked past the door, and tripped over the shoes. Mom heard it and started cracking up.

Real

I accidentally washed the camera while Lizzie and Justin were here for Christmas. Justin did some camera first-aid, but it didn't work. The camera is now officially dead. (So I took Mom's camera to take the pictures.)

This is a little old lady from church. She, her son, and grandson came over to eat supper about a week ago.

Happy

That's Plot Bunny. He's my mascot and takes care of all the baby plot bunnies in this house happy.

Funny

We went to a cook out thing-bash with some friends, and one of the boys there decided to fry an apple over the fire. He said it didn't taste too bad. His sister ate some, too, but didn't like it.

Real

That's my writing kit. The bows were re-tied recently. They were starting to look like they had been run through a wrinkle machine. :P

Day 1- 1667 words- I LOVE WRITING AND EVERYTHING ABOUT IT

Day 2- 3334 words- You mean I have to do this every day?

Day 3- 5001 words- Okay, I’m getting the hang of this. Steady work. I’m like professional. I’m doing so well.

Day 4- 6668 words- Hahaha. Won’t I laugh when all those frivolous partiers are still shallow and I’m published. (You mean I really have to spend my Friday nights locked in my room?)

Day 5- 8335 words- I can’t write now! I’m watching Doctor Who/Firefly/Sherlock/whatever.

Day 6- 10002 words- You know, I think my story could be benefited by including some pirates… ones who sing really long drinking songs… yeah…

Day 7- 11669 words- I can’t tell if I’m hungover from caffeine, chocolate, or whining protagonists.

Day 8- 13336 words- Has anyone in my story developed multiple personalities yet?

Day 9- 15003 words- What was I thinking with that whole multiple personality thing? I need to get this story back on track.

Day 10- 16670 words- I can’t read the handwriting of my outline. Was it that important in the first place?

Day 11- 18337 words- Writing? Pssh, I’m building a fort out of blankets!

Day 12- 20004 words- Have I introduced any quirky side characters yet?

Day 13- 21671 words- What day of the week is it? Am I supposed to be at school? Am I supposed to have written anything coherent?

Day 14- 23338 words- My ears seem to have grown around my headphones. How odd.

Day 15- 25o05 words- Halfway there! I’ll reward myself with a shower.

Day 16- 26672 words- Can’t give up now.

Day 17- 28339 words- Have I killed any quirky side characters yet?

Day 18- 30006 words- There is no shame in inviting some foreign spies into my novel about now.

Day 19- 31673 words- Step outside for some reason. Become very confused by the sunlight. Go write some more.

Day 20- 33340 words- I can remember the words to every single one of my guilty pleasure songs, but can I remember how to spell my protagonist’s name? Probably not!

Day 21- 35007 words- I’m really confused as to why I’ve signed up for this and why I can’t stop. Time to have some existential angst about novelling.

Day 22- 36674 words- Can I still get Halloween candy for cheap?

Day 23- 38341 words- One week left! How much sleep does one person need, anyways?

Day 24- 40008 words- I think it’s high time I killed off my protagonist.

Day 25- 41675 words- I’d try to figure out how many words behind I am, but my brain is far too fried for math.

Day 26- 43342 words- Is it time for a cake break yet?

Day 27- 45009 words- Word war time- all night long.

Day 28- 46676 words- I fell asleep in class, but I worked out my plot hole!

Day 29- 48343 words- Is it bad that I hear my character’s voice from the corners of dark rooms?

Day 30- 50000 words- I’ve forgotten how to write conclusions, but I’m about to remember what it’s like to have a life!

Day 31- finished- NaNoWriMo withdrawal. I forget my purpose in the world, sob on the forums, plan for my next novel, and have sudden amnesia about just how terribly difficult all that was. Hurrah!

You Know You're a PK When...

1. You're taking a class from your dad, and he says, "Oh, and tell your mom that I'm going over to the hospital later today" and it's normal.

2. When the main things you want to know in a phone message is which hospital the person is, what the person's name is, and the person's condition.

3. When you're the stand in acolyte.

4. When you've got the church year memorized.

5. When you help change the altar things even though you are't on the altar guild.

6. When you go over to the church with your dad the day before a special church service and helps him rearrange (and tells him that such-and-such is crooked, or the flowers are lopsided, or the candle wicks are bent over so that they're even more flame-proof than ever)

7. When you get excited when the church gets hand-me-down oil-filled candles (which are not flame proof; they normally cost about a million dollars each, so hand-me-downs are nice)

8. When you notice that he dragged his sleeve through the Communion wine and you tell him later.

9. When he gives you a job to do in the middle of the service, and you go do it.

10. When you know how to work the sound system.

11. When you carry lunch over to the church building.

12. When you tap-dance in the church hallway and nobody minds.

13. When your mom teaches Sunday school and all the little kids flock to her and follow her around, and you call her Mother Duck.

14. When you know where the altar guild cabinet thing key is hidden.

15. When you know where all the light switches are.

16. When the secretary says that your dad has gone to the hospital, and you don't panic.

17. When you run back to the office to get candy for the children's sermon because your dad forgot some.

18. When you know how to bow properly.

19. When you and your dad teach the other acolytes and the deacons how to bow properly.

20. When you help scrape candle wax off of the flame-throwers.

21. When you know what a flame-thrower is.

22. When you've helped old ladies with stairs and crock-pots at least five times in your life.

23. When you don't know half the people in the congregation, but they all know you.

24. When you help fold bulletins.

Pretty

This is an old German Bible from the 1890s. Somebody wrote in it in ink-well ink, but I can't read what it says. The spine is taped together with packing tape, and the pages are falling out in places.

Happy

Mom's students had their first hymn listening quiz in class today. They were all in a ditzy about it, but it came out ok. Mom's happy.

Funny

That's a picture thing that Dad got for either Christmas or his birthday (I don't remember which).

Real

That's a combine we rode on last Saturday with one of our friends who owns a farm. Those steps are steep.
